Michael Farrington

Originally from South Africa, Mike has been sailing since he was five and started his Shipwright apprenticeship in 1991 in Southampton, the capital of yachting in the UK. He moved to the Cayman Islands in 1996 to captain a 60-foot catamaran, however, the itch to learn more pulled him back to Newcastle in northern England where he worked as a boat builder at the world renowned Ovingtons. He wanted to return to warmer weather, so in 2007 with just a tool box and silver van, Mike started Compass Marine and has worked very hard to grow the company into the flourishing business it is today. Mike is now also the Commodore of the Cayman Islands Sailing Club, where he spends weekends on the water. Call Mike at 916 0660 or email him at mike@compassmarine.ky

Shane Connolly

A very familiar face in Cayman, Shane has been a resident of the Cayman Islands for almost 19 years. Originally from “sunny” England one of his very first jobs in Grand Cayman was that of a parasailing guide. Shane stayed in the boat and water sports industry and became a qualified diesel mechanic; in fact Shane is a whiz with anything mechanical, his specialty being tower cranes on construction sites. Shane has repaired Cummins and John Deere diesel engines on a variety of boats in his time as a diesel mechanic. He enjoys working in a small company with colleagues who all have the same passion for boats and all things marine.

Ray Quinones

Philippino Ray has been on the Cayman Islands for five years and was Compass Marine’s first full time employee. Ray is an expert fiberglass fabricator and he also paints hulls and trailer frames. Ray is an all round handy man and an invaluable member of the Compass Marine team.

Christopher Delaney

Also a proud Caymanian, Christopher joined Compass Marine in 2011 when he was just 17. Due to exemplary performance, Christopher received a scholarship from The International Yacht Restoration School in Rhode Island. He successfully completed the requirements for a certification in Marine Systems. He also completed requirements for a Marine Electronics Installer and finally also became a member of the American Boat & Yacht Council. He will return to Rhode Island later this year to further his education. Compass Marine is excited to have his skills and talents as a service to our clients.

Collin Williams

Collin is Compass Marine’s fiberglass fabricator and hails from Jamaica where he trained after high school at a company that specialized in fiberglass manufacturing. Collin has over 10 years of experience in his field and likes to explore new ideas, daily challenged and work on new projects. He was also an integrals part of the team who worked on the Cayman Kayaks catamaran from start to completion. Collin is currently also dabbling in the art applying boat hull paint.

Tomas Eslaban

Originally from the Phillipines, Tomas has worked as an upholsterer and sail repairman for nine years in Grand Cayman. Tomas can manufacture boat seats and pillows, car seats, sofas and outdoor furniture covers. He also boasts extensive experience in producing bimini tops as sun shades and makes protective boat covers and outboard engine covers for short or long term storage and usage. Ask Tomas to make sunshades for your outdoor deck for shaded barbeques and protection from the sun.

Bill Perigo

Originally from Canada, Bill Perigo has called Cayman home for almost 20 years. Bill started in the dive industry where he worked as a shop manager and boat captain. He then set his sights on boat and marine repairs and maintenance. Bill’s knowledge of Cayman’s waters is unmatched and so is his experience and understanding of boat and marine repairs and maintenance. Bill has managed and maintained everything from small personal water craft to dive boats, ocean racing speed boats and luxury super yachts.
